I enjoy taking photographs when traveling and enjoying activities with my family. I try to both create beautiful images and document the events of my life to keep these memories near.
I am continually trying to improve the images I capture. I have made a small investment in the Nikon D90 and a couple lenses, and am learning to use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop to process my images.
Please enjoy the photos I have selected.
I bought a Nikon D90 shortly after having my first child. This was my first Digital Single Lense Reflex (DLSR) camera, and I am still using it today. I started with the kit lens that came with the camera, but have upgraded since then. The DSLR and accessories are a lot to carry around, and they say the best camera is the one you have with you, so I also take many pictures with my phone.

I bought the D90 after comparing many models, because the sensor pixel density was slightly higher than other models in the price range. The D90 was being discontinued in favor of Nikons new lineup, which included new cameras below and above the D90 price point.
After using the kit zoom lens for 8 years, I wanted to upgrade my every day lens with something that could still manage low light better with a wider aperture and powerful zoom. This lens is heavy to carry around, but is my general use lens and I am happy with it.
My first camera upgrade was this prime lens (no zoom) which forced me to move myself to compose shots, and showed me what was possible with low light photography with the right equipment. This lens is great for portraits and product photography. It is also lightweight, but not having a zoom capability means I have to be confident I won't need a zoom lens to use this one.
Manfroto Website
The tripod is an invaluable tool for taking pictures. With a tripod I can take family and self portraits. I can take long exposure shots of the sky and make sure product photography is crystal clear. The Manafroto tripod is a very nice standard sized tripod; fully extended it is about 6ft tall. The legs glide fluidly and all of the clamps are very secure dispite the light weight.
Peak Design Website
The Peak Design Slide strap is a nice replacement strap because the length is quickly adjustable, and it has some extra padding and grip to help with comfortable placement. Peak Design uses a modular clip on system so you can quickly remove the strap or switch it to different gear.
Lowepro Website
The Lowepro Camera backpack was a must have for traveling with my laptop and camera. The pack has a vertical compartment for your laptop near your back, and then a large padded area for your camera and lenses, including movable dividers. There is another pocket up top with enough space that I have fit my noise cancelling headphones, a book, and a sundry of small items (pens, usb drive, etc.) in the top pocket.
You can protect the gear pocket zippers from being easily opened with a buckle flap that can also be used to attach the tripod or a coat on the pack.
I have used this pack heavily, packed full, traveling around the world, and it continues to be reliable protection for my photo gear.
